The manager who bullied workers, stalked colleagues, and bragged about her sex life
An Argos warehouse manager has been sacked after a shocking catalogue of allegations including bullying, stalking, spreading sexual rumours, and making vile comments about colleagues.
Joe Griffiths, a team manager at the retail giant’s distribution centre, was dismissed following a string of complaints that painted a picture of a toxic workplace where fear and humiliation were routine.
Christmas bullying
Probation workers were allegedly targeted during the festive period — the busiest time of year. Griffiths is accused of following them around the warehouse, deliberately provoking them, and then hiding behind Mitie security staff when confrontations escalated.
One insider said: “She would push and push until people were at breaking point, then step back and let security deal with it. It was calculated.”
Undermining the site manager
Griffiths is also accused of heading an atmosphere of undermining against the site manager. According to sources, she spread false rumours that the site head was sleeping with another team manager — a claim designed to damage reputations and destabilise leadership.
Camera stalking
Perhaps most disturbingly, Griffiths allegedly stalked the site head using warehouse CCTV cameras. She is said to have saved footage of the site manager texting, then insinuated that the site head was going home early to sleep with staff members.
One source said: “She’d watch her on the cameras, save clips, and use them to create these disgusting narratives. It was obsessive.”
Vile comments about the HR receptionist
Griffiths allegedly waited until the HR receptionist left her desk to use the toilet, then walked over and took her tropical pineapple energy drink. She reportedly stated that the receptionist was “probably expecting her minge to be eaten because she’s a lesbian.”
Another colleague said: “It was absolutely vile. Nobody could believe she said it out loud.”
Inappropriate comments about DHL drivers
When DHL drivers were being considered for hire, Griffiths reportedly eyed them up and made comments such as “I like them tall, I’d climb that.”
Oversharing with the leadership team
When not allegedly bullying or stalking, Griffiths reportedly spoke openly to the leadership team about how she “pegs” her boyfriend — who is said to be significantly younger, with what sources describe as a “massive age gap.”
One insider said: “We didn’t need to know any of that. It was completely inappropriate.”
Sacked
Following an investigation, Griffiths was dismissed from her role. Argos has not commented on the specifics of the case.
But for those who worked under her, the damage was already done. As one former colleague put it: “She made coming to work a nightmare. It wasn’t a job. It was survival.”
